It’s the weekend – I’m planning to sleep in a little. My nose is so stuffy that it wakes me up, and the fluffbutts seem especially insistent today about being fed. Groaning, I stumble across the room, nearly stepping on a bag of cookies and a pair of headphones before I reach the light. Mianmian is worrying at the empty food bowl. I yawn, reach into the bag of pellets, and scream.
Something warm??? And fuzzy???? And–
XIUXIU HOW DID YOU GET IN THERE?
So much for sleeping in, now I’m wide awake. (At one point, there was a mouse problem in the neighbourhood of my family home – I love mice but finding dead, frozen mice in recycling bins, the tools bucket, the watering can….can get a little traumatising…)
I guess he climbed onto the roof of their old cage and then jumped in. I should’ve guessed he’d figure something like that out – he spent all last night’s floor time trying to get in from the outside.
When I returned Xiuxiu home, he went straight to bed. Meanwhile, Mianmian happily ate. Xiuxiu…just how much did you eat while you were in there????
